A misconceptions most newbie teachers have that students will listen to force. Are you mad bruh? Do you really think someone will listen to you if you act like a douchebag, riding the high horse? No one listens to someone who yammers the bark but can’t wiggle and do the pet talk.
Its the truth. Students are children, at least most act like one while many are one. But that’s the point, you have to act like them to make them listen. There’s no secret formula for gaining their attention besides being like them.
Start with a joke, understand where they come from. Humour is the best way to break the ice, make it about the weather and blow them away. Navigate their interests and win them over. It’s that simple.
