Stay, You May

Photo by Hector Gomez on Unsplash

Dime to dime, the edging drip, fervors of a tear
I sit in a cafe, trying to bide my time, observant

I watch across the table to a dame,
caressing her lover, knowing only his name

I wait, insatiate, while the emptiness swallows whole
however, I stay there, in awe of knowing there’s more

To life, to love, to fear, to mourn,
Will I again?

No more, nevermore
