It does feel that medium is becoming a newspaper agency, by the hour.

Though overall, I am not surprised. I have known this was happening underworks. Because the whole platform's architecture and business model was leading up to this eventually.

Yet perhaps I have a few doubts about other significant changes but we will see in time.

I believe that this term basically is telling anyone who published on medium, that we can use it without your approval and you have no choice in the matter after you hit "publish."

Although for me, I have no issues with it. When It happens behind the scenes, why would it matter to me if it happens in front.

I have seen many examples where I have written certain content or read content from other writers that bound to pop up in medium's own publication.

There aren't really coincidences when it comes to data. I know that much if something happens and you feel that something is fishy — it just is.

I have read all that the newer terms say, and the first thought that popped into my mind was — how ludicrous it is to not write it simple terms to the public that we use your data, sell, analyze, reproduce it without your consent and this new term allows us to do it without anyone’s approval.

Though it is their platform and I agree with what they have stated. The popup seems to be annoying on every draft you open.

I get it, you are trying to remove the headache of handling legal issues by creating a newer set of rules but just because you set it in stone doesn’t mean that people won’t be able to break, shatter, destroy and blow those rules into kingdom come when it violates their privacy, rights, consent and vice-versa.

Advice: Anybody can use your content, at the end of the day remember who coined it and keep on writing. Innovation doesn’t come if you keep it to yourself.

Let it flourish and let it spread. Sure there will always be implications for everything. There will be good and bad, don’t worry about the occasional issues that will stumble on your path.

See the big picture, and focus on why you write. Don’t worry about how others can steal or copy what only you can produce. They can try but will fail badly at it. Only you can do what you can do. Be safe, worry less, and take care of yourself.

Thank you for reading.
